Sikament®-9

High Range Water-Reducing Concrete Admixture

Sikament-9 is used as highly effective water reducing agent and superplasticizer for the production of high strength concrete in hot climates.

Sikament® -9 provides the following properties : - Substantial improvement in workability without increased water - Normal set without retardation - Accelerated hardening after setting - Significant increase of early and ultimate strengths, by over 30% - Especially suitable for concreting at elevated temperatures - Increased water tightness - Improved surface finish - Reduced shrinkage and creep - Chloride-free, does not attack reinforcement - Increased resistant to wear and abrasion

Usage

As a superplasticizer, Sikament-9 is used for flowing concrete in : - Slabs and foundations - Walls and columns - Slender components with densely packed reinforcement - Beams and ceilings As a substantial water reducing agent, Sikament-9 is used where high early and ultimates strength is required, such as : - Prestressed concrete surfaces - Concrete elements manufactured in precast factories, where rapid emoulding and early load application is required - Bridges and cantilever structures

Technical Information

Specific advice

Concrete shall be designed in accordance with ACI 211.1-89 standard recommended practice for selecting proportions for concrete and shall contain  a superplasticizer which shall be Sikament® -9 as manufactured by Sika. It shall be used in strict accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Application

Application Information

Dispensing

Sikament® -9 can be added to the gauging water prior to its addition to the dry mix or separately to the freshly mixed concrete ( on the batching plant or on site into the truck mixer).
Consumption

Recommended dosage

The dosage of Sikament® -9 is between 0.6 - 2.5% of the cement weight. It is advisable to carry out trial mixes to establish the exact dosage rate required. Sikament® -9 is compatible with all types of Portland cement, in cluding S.R.C.
